|
SB 595 (Beall), the bill to authorize Regional Measure 3 to invest in major congestion relief and mass transit improvement projects throughout the Bay Area passed the legislature. The bill now awaits the Governor’s signature, and then would be placed on the June ballot for approval by voters. Ferries in particular won big in the measure, securing $300 million capital and up to $35 million annual operating for WETA to significantly enhance service on existing routes and expand to many new locations around the bay. This triples WETA’s current operating budget, enabling the agency to rapidly scale service and help deliver near-term congestion relief. Thanks to all who worked hard to make this happen!
