The Inlandboatmen’s Union of Pacific, Marine Division of ILWU, represents workers on the west coast including Alaska and Hawaii. IBU members work on a variety of vessels, including ferries, tugboat and barges, dredges tour boats, and water taxis. We represent shoreside workers including ticket sellers, traffic and terminal attendants, terminal agents, warehouse workers, maintenance workers, tankermen, longshore, dispatchers, and seafood workers. Founded in 1918, the IBU prides itself on being one of the most democratic unions in the nation. We represent the most efficient crews in our industry. The IBU is the largest inland union on the west coast representing the maritime industry. It is a democratic, politically active organization dedicated to protecting the membership’s job security.
